NEW YORK — DSA Media Group will work to promote college football and basketball sports brands for the Associated Press under a deal announced today.
DSA, a sports marketing agency, will work to secure strategic partners and sponsorships for AP’s Top 25 rankings for college football and men’s and women’s basketball and for the AP National Champions, AP All-American Team, AP Player of the Year and AP Coach of the Year awards.
DSA will build on AP’s reputation as an innovator in sports news and its strong tradition of college polling, which dates to 1934 for college football, 1948 for men’s college basketball and 1976 for women’s college basketball.
“We are honored the Associated Press chose us for this prestigious assignment,” said DSA Media Group’s President and CEO Dante Simpson. “I’ve looked forward to the AP Awards annually, since my childhood, and I’ve always appreciated the accuracy of such an objective process.”
“Our sports assets are some of the most recognizable in the world, and we’re excited to be developing those franchises further with the help of DSA,” said Jim Kennedy, AP senior vice president for strategy and digital products.
Kennedy noted that in addition to the wide exposure the sports properties receive through AP news coverage, the polls, rankings and awards also anchor key digital properties for AP, such as white-label sports websites distributed to newspapers and broadcasters and the award-winning mobile app, AP Mobile.
