Seth
Borenstein named AP science writer
NEW YORK -- Seth Borenstein, a national
correspondent in Knight Ridder's Washington bureau, has been
named science writer for The Associated Press.
The appointment was announced March 6 by Deputy Managing Editor
Kristin Gazlay.
Borenstein has covered a variety of national issues, including
environment, space, public health, homeland security and energy.
Before joining Knight Ridder as a national writer in 1998,
he worked for The Orlando Sentinel and the Sun-Sentinel in
Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
In 2004, Borenstein won the Society of Environmental Journalists'
award for outstanding beat reporting. He also has served as
a media fellow studying environmental issues at Carnegie Mellon
University and Vermont Law School.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, he is a graduate of Boston University.
Borenstein succeeds Joseph B. Verrengia, who resigned to work
for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
