AP names Linderman reporter in Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Juliet Linderman, a federal courts reporter at The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, will be joining The Associated Press in Baltimore.

The announcement was made Thursday by AP South Editor Lisa Marie Pane and Mid-Atlantic News Editor Amanda Kell.

“Juliet is a smart and nimble journalist whose talents and experience will prove invaluable,” Pane said.

Linderman, 27, will be covering urban issues and education in the Mid-Atlantic region. In 2012, Linderman joined the Times-Picayune, where she covered courts and local government, including the trial of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and cases stemming from police violence in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

She previously was managing editor of The Greenpoint Gazette in Brooklyn, N.Y., and a freelancer for The New York Times. She is the author of a 2012 book, “Refugee Hotel,” about refugee communities in six U.S. cities.

Linderman has a bachelor’s degree in geography and literature from New York University.
