AP distributes over 700 hours of Hong Kong protest video

The Associated Press announced today it has delivered to customers more than 700 hours of live and edited video coverage of ongoing anti-government protests in Hong Kong, including several agency exclusives capturing the demonstrations.

Hundreds of broadcasters and digital news outlets across the globe have used AP video of the clashes between protesters and police.

AP was first to offer live video of the police effort to retake Hong Kong Polytechnic University and arrest protesters trapped on campus last week. Live feeds were available from multiple vantage points across four of AP’s five live channels.

Since the protests began in June, AP has provided agency exclusives, including live and edited video of protesters swarming into Hong Kong’s legislature on July 1, and live video on Oct. 2 of protests at the school of a teenage protestor shot by police.

Collaborations with content providers such as Agencia EFE, Spectee, Viral Press, Newsflare and Storyful have supplemented the AP video available to customers.

Protest-related video from Storyful, the most recent addition to AP’s growing list of third-party content providers, has shown demonstrators burning the Chinese flag, and police using a water cannon during the standoff with protesters at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
