The Associated Press is introducing a new program to convene its members and customers for engaging conversations about the future of news.
AP Forward is a year-round program that will bring together voices from the AP and across the media and technology industries through in-person events and online conversations to exchange insights and ideas about the collective challenges and opportunities facing the news industry.

“For nearly two centuries and through countless moments of upheaval, The Associated Press has been the backbone of the global news ecosystem. As our industry continues to navigate historically significant transformation — from changing business models and technological disruption to attacks on press freedom around the world — AP Forward is a forum for frank conversation among those who are defining the future of news,” said Kristin Heitmann, senior vice president and chief revenue officer.
AP Forward kicks off May 20 with an inaugural online event about press freedom featuring AP Executive Editor Julie Pace and General Counsel Karen Kaiser. Additional virtual conversations and in-person events later this year will focus on topics such as revenue diversification, the impact of generative AI and the state of trust in news.
AP Forward is part of the global news agency’s commitment to leveraging its scale and expertise to support and strengthen the news industry. AP earlier this year announced a Local Investigative Reporting Program and continues to collaborate with newsrooms in the U.S. and around the world to help members and customers serve their own audiences.
