Only on AP: Agency says bus companies can refuse searches


Seattle reporter Eugene Johnson and San Diego correspondent Elliot Spagat for exclusively obtaining a Customs and Border Protection memo that showed the agency knew Greyhound and other bus operators could refuse searches by border patrol agents. Greyhound had long contended it was powerless to stop the searches. The reporting got widespread attention and led to Johnson being interviewed on NPR’s “All Things Considered.”
