AP’s diverse, tireless, all-format team braved torrential rain, blistering heat, unprecedented filming restrictions and opaque police controls to cover the biggest and most complex Olympic Games in history. Over the seven years since Paris won the Olympic bid and throughout 16 days of competition, staffers from around the world and a breadth of backgrounds cultivated sources that produced global exclusives on athletes, polluted water, horse abuse, drag culture and more.
