Additions to US News team

U.S. News Director Josh Hoffner announced Monday that several reporters, including visual journalists, are joining AP’s U.S. News reporting team, comprising journalists in all 50 states.

Here is his memo to staff:

We have three new team members joining U.S. News, and I wanted to send a quick note introducing them. We are thrilled to have them on board and look forward to their contributions to the news report. They are: Emily Wang, video journalist in New York City; Emilie Megnien, video journalist in Atlanta; and Jessica Hill, reporter in Las Vegas.

Here is a little more about them:

EMILY WANG

Emily Wang Fujiyama, currently the AP’s Greater China news director, will be joining our team in New York as a video journalist. Emily was an AP video journalist in Beijing and Tokyo for more than a decade before moving into her current role overseeing our coverage of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mongolia. Before coming to the AP, Emily worked for Japanese broadcaster NHK in Tokyo and as a Los Angeles reporter for Japan’s largest national daily newspaper. She has covered natural disasters, Trump summits and two Olympics and went to Wuhan for the outbreak of COVID-19 and has traveled on assignments throughout Asia.

EMILIE MEGNIEN

Emilie has worked as a video journalist in newsrooms in both her native France and the United States, and we are excited to have her as a video journalist in Atlanta. Her stops include the BBC, Le Parisien, Agence France-Presse and STP Productions. She earned a master’s degree in international journalism from Institut Pratique du Journalisme Paris-Dauphine. She also graduated from George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications.

JESSICA HILL

Jessica will cover general news and politics in Nevada, with a particular focus on women in state government. Jessica began covering Nevada politics in 2021 for the Las Vegas Sun and moved to the Review-Journal in 2022. She led the Review Journal’s coverage of the 2024 presidential election in the important swing state. Her reporting took her to party conventions in Chicago and Milwaukee and even to Alaska, where she traveled to explain how ranked-choice voting worked as Nevada considered adopting it. She previously worked for the Cape Cod Times and USA Today.
